These pictures are priceless! He makes an adorable Minnie Mouse, I mean princess.

I can't believe that some of the other kids were making fun of him. I totally understand your hesitation on saying anything though. I'm just glad that he didn't get what they were saying.

As soon as I read that some of the kids were making fun of him, I walked over to Juliana and showed her the picture of Alex in the Tinkerbell costume. I asked her if she thought it was weird that he was wearing that costume and she stared at me like she had no clue what I was talking about. She said that it is fun to play dress up and didn't see any reason he shouldn't be wearing it. I hoped that would be her response, but with Kindergarten and new friends, etc it was a good time to have a refresher that we don't make fun of people.

It's unfortunate that some of the other moms who were there need to learn that lesson.

Alex is awesome and dress-up is fun and you are a cool mom for making him feel comfortable.

Also, it is nice having you back in the blog world :)

I have the exact same concerns. My son will be 5 July 31st. Although at this point I am 99% sure I will be sending him to preschool for one more year. He does have a slight speech delay and is receiving speech services thru his preschool. I know that if I send him next year and he struggles I will be very upset with myself. I'd rather him need enrichment, than struggle.

I'm sure you get tons of opinions over this too. It has made me crazy since he was born. I've been asking teachers recently about their opinion and one of the kindergarten teachers at our local school district recommended waiting the extra year. She said it was more for maturity reasons that she would keep summer birthdays back a year.

Good luck with your decision. :)

Aw! He's a cutie! And boy, is he growing up. I'm glad to hear he is one of the nice kids! :-)

Sleepy hungry kids . . . never a good situation. You never know what will set them off in a dramatic way. Things that are normal in any other situation, or that would make them laugh any other day, suddenly are heart-breaking and terrible. It's so sad sometimes, but just plain hilarious at other times. I admit, this one sounds more sad to me than it apparently was in person. :-)

OH MY GOODNESS. MAGGIE TOO! I called her 'little girl' last week (in an admittedly snotty kind of way, like 'LISTEN UP, LITTLE GIRL...') and she melted into a puddle of tears, insisting she wasn't a little girl, she was a big girl, and why do people always call her little? (In my defense, she was ACTING like BABY all morning with the WHINING OMG!) She's definitely a sensitive one... sigh. It's tricky to deal with for sure!

I agree with this first comment. Live in the present and enjoy the moments you do have with your son. Also, if it's too much pressure to try to blog all of your memories, you may want to try taking more pictures for yourself or writing certain memories down on paper (if that's quicker). No matter what you choose, your readers understand :)

so...ummm...try not to put too much pressure on yourself and enjoy the writing, the documenting your lives. but if you don't put it here, at least you are still experiencing it and loving it. enjoy!
