A Goal

So, I mentioned that I took a photography class and I figured the best thing I could do would be to practice what I learned, right? Nothing will help you retain what you’ve been taught like actually using those lessons.

I’ve taken at least 2 pictures every day for the last two weeks now. A few days were last minute “oh-my-god-I-need-to-take-some-picture” days. Many days were just me taking pictures of…life.

Life happens, and it’s pretty cool.

Day 14: May 19

Even the most mundane thing has been on my camera these days. I used to only take pictures of events. Now I just capture.

So, Project 365 is a go. I think I can state that two weeks in I’m pretty happy so far.

Alex, on the other hand, is not. “Don’t take my picture! I don’t want that camera here!”

He really doesn’t enjoy the camera in his face. At best, he will look at me and make a funny face.

Posing

At worst, he just runs away each and every time I put the camera up to my face.

Sprinkler Fun

But that’s okay.

His butt is pretty cute.

  1. We got a canon for Christmas and I immediately decided to do Project 365, although sometimes I have to use my phone. I’ve only missed two days and they were both mondays and I was in class all day, you know how that goes. I do think it forces you to think outside the box, even for the mundane.

    1. Definitely! I took a picture of my morning coffee one day…ha! Not the most exciting, but I messed around with the manual settings in a dark room and it turned out *okay.*

  2. Oh goodness! He reminds me of my Zach – he hates the camera right now, too. I think Abby did at one point, too, but she is all poses and smiles now, so I can say that I think it will get better over time…you just have to be creative (and quick!) at this age. 🙂

Looks like you are using the skills you learned! Those shots are great! And all three shots use the thing that I notice in every picture I think is a great one…shallow depth of field. It makes all the difference, doesn’t it? Good luck with keeping up with Project 365! I failed miserably. Ha!

    1. Oh man, I sure hope he will outgrow it! Either way, he’s a cute subject so I manage to get some good shots regardless of the fact that he won’t cooperate!

Thank you! I do love the shallow depth of field. Little faces are all I want to capture 🙂

  3. This is totally not the comment I was going to leave, but WordPress and it’s annoying “must log in” thing is making me cranky today. Heh. So I’ll just say I’m hella proud of you and your new skillz!
